Texel farmer’s kwelder cheese by Wezenspyk lends its name from the kwelder areas on Texel: salty grasslands that feature excellent plant growth due to their moist soils. The pickleweed (Salicornia) used in this cheese is among the typical kwelder plants. Combine this with a six-month maturing period and you’ve got a full and somewhat salty cheese. Unique with a hint of Texel!
